Happy Devil's Day ,everyone! Did you indulge in any sin today? My favorite deadly sin is gluttony,followed closely by lust and sloth. What's yours?

To me, "sin" is part of what makes you human.Sin is your desire,your lust,feelings both good and bad.Sin is part of what makes you,you.I feel no need for repentance;I simply try each day to be the best man that I can be.If I fail,I pick myself up the next day and try again.No sense in beating yourself up.

In case you didn't know where the "666" myth comes from,here's the Bible verse: Revelations 13:18.

I have no problem with Christianity,as long as they believe in live and let live.I will not be converting any time soon.If they get in my face,I'll be in theirs.If they're in my way,I'll want them out of my way,one way or the other.The only religion I have any interest in currently is Buddhism,which I've been reading up on.

Do you ever wonder what the world would be like if,in 1948,the Untited Nations had've voted against the establishment of the nation of Israel? Would the middle east be a more peaceful place?

Palestine is arguably one of the last European colonial states where the natives have yet to achieve independence.Palestine,up until 1948,was a majority Arab/Muslim area.What happened to them would in modern times be called "Ethnic cleansing".Thousands upon thousnads still live in neighboring states in refugee camps.Imagine being a refugee in your own land,not having the right to go home.

No justice,no peace.Bare minimum,Palestinians must be guaranteed the right of return to their homelands,Israel must withdraw from the Occupied Territories,and East Jerusalem must be allowed to become the capitol of a Palestininan nation.

While the Holocaust was an unparalled tragedy,an uninvolved nation must not be made to pay for it.Victimhood does not give one the right to make victims out of others.

Perhaps after the war,the Zionists should've asked for Bavaria instead.

If you're looking for something cheap,quick and easy for supper tonight,try this recipe which I adapted from my girlfriend Rosemary:

1 can of diced tomatoes
1 can of pineapple chunks
1 can of chick peas(garbanzo beans)
1 can of sliced mushrooms
1 can of corn kernels
(optional)cheyenne pepper to taste

Pour all ingredients in a large pot(do NOT drain beforehand!).Heat until hot.Serve.

It's as easy as that! Tasty and nutritious!

Body Worlds 2

I saw the Body Worlds 2 display at the Science Centre in Toronto recently.What struck me was how much dead human flesh, when sliced, resembles rare roast beef.Also, I must say that I find it a somewhat undignified way to treat a cadaver,no? Volunteers or not, these were human beings,and deserve some dignity,especially in death.Yet fascinating, all the same.

My girlfriend has a little boy who just loves Archie comic books,thus,I have an excuse to read them whenever I visit.

Now,I've read Archie comics ever since I was a boy,but reading them now just shows how your perspective changes as you age.I used to think that the se Riverdale kids were just the coolest people you could know,so mature,attractive, and funny.

Now I see them a little differently.Archie,for instance, is an asshole.He has no qualms about dating every girl he can, but has a problem with Betty and Veronica doing the same.He's a moocher,he's lazy, and isn't very smart.

Betty has an almost psychotic obsession with Archie. If she were to ever truly believe that he didn't want her,she'd either kill herself,or go all Fatal Attraction on him.Veronica doesn't love Archie.She just wants him because her best friend(Betty) does,and also,Archie really pisses her father off.What teenager(they're all supposed to be 17) can resist that?

Jughead is 17,and doesn't like girls? One word:gay! Come out,come out, wherever you are!

Moose Mason is a violent simpleton,who shouldn't be in a regular school,but an institution.He's the type of man who would eventually turn on his "gurl" Midge,because he's sure that she's leading other men on.But hey,he wins football games, right?

Smoothie recipe

1 ripe banana
5 pitted dates
2 tbsp. of peanut butter
2 tbsp. of ground flax seeds
2 tbsp. of soy protein powder
3 ice cubes
a dash of vanilla essence
3 packets of Sugar Twin

Blend 'em all at high speed until smooth. Serves 3.

INXS in my dreams

I recently had a dream about the Australian band INXS . I dreamt that I was following them around, showing up everytime that they were there.I was particularly interested in meeting their new lead singer, J.D.Fortune.

I think it was because I auditioned for the show Rock Star:INXS last year at the Toronto open auditions, but didn't get chosen.Imagine that! They didn't choose a karaoke singer who auditioned with an acapella version of "I Will Survive". What nerve!

Imagine,I'm jealous of a guy who I've never even met.He gets to tour the world and sing, I get to work picking orders for a cosmetics wholesaler.Whoever said life was fair?

So,anyway,INXS' tunes were in my head all last week,so Friday night I listened to a best of CD.They were a pretty good band,weren't they?

High-priced uselessness

I happened to be in a Holt Renfrew store at Bloor and Bay in Toronto today,and I saw some things that gave me pause. One was a pair of blue jeans, which cost $265.I don't remember the brand name, but the label had a Buddha holding a guitar. The second thing was a blouse that cost $595.

I couldn't help but wonder why anybody would need such expensive clothes. Some folks seem to have too much money, and are willing to spend it foolishly on expensive things that they don't need.

I also wonder if my politics are based on genuinely held socialist ethics, or am I motivated by envy? I mean, it WOULD be nice to have that kind of money to waste.I'd like to believe that if I ever was lucky enough to come into a large lump of money, that I would have the sense to be somewhat more logical or even sensible about spending. I'd want things that'd last longer than the current fashion trends.

And another thing:I'll bet that just about none of the Holt Renfrew employees can afford to shop there!

I intend to vote for the NDP in this upcoming federal election, even though my local candidate probably doesn't have a hope in hell of winning. I like Jack Layton. He's the only political leader in Ottawa that has come out untainted by scandal, and has worked what little influence he has for the most good.

My politics skew leftward. I'm in favor of gay marriage, legalization of marijuana, public health care, increased funding for post-secondary education, and keeping Canada's foreign policy independent of Washington.The NDP is the closest to representing my values, and I hope they do better this time.

Nowdays, I weigh in at about 160-164 pounds. This figure tends to fluctuate but, at one time I used to be quite fat. I joined Weight Watchers back on September 29, 2001, and I weighed 263.4 pounds on that day. Through discipline, exercise,and watching/writing down what I ate( something that I do to this day!), I dropped 100 pounds by July2002, and I have managed to keep those pounds off to this day.

Truth is, I wasted most of life being fat. I was used to it, and I guess that I thought that there was nothing that I could do about it, anyway. But, I reached the point of no return when one day at work, this attractive redhead came up to me and started talking to me as if she knew me. All the while I was talking to her, I was wracking my brain: "How do I know this woman?". It turned out that she was my old boss, who used to be fat. She had dropped what must've been 80 pounds, and looked hot!. I realised that I had no excuses anymore.I couldn't say "I'm doing what I can" or "I'm too tired". So I tried doing what she did;I decided to cut out the carbs. That lasted one day. I decided that weekend to do it right, and I went to a local Weight Watchers meeting. I was hooked from the beginning, and joined right away. The first day was the hardest. I was nearly in tears, I was so hungry, but I stuck it out. That first week, I lost 5 pounds!

One way that I keep in shape is that I exercise 6 days out of seven, usually twice a day. I usually take Sundays off. I mix up my routines: I do Pilates. yoga, work out with free weights, stomach crunches. The key with exercise is to not get too used to one routine or way of doing things. Mixing it up keeps things interesting, keeps you on your toes, and doesn't allow your body to get too used to a routine and thus not be affected by what you're doing.

What you eat is key. I decided while I was trying to lose weight that it was good to cut back on saturated fat, the type that is present in meat. SO, I cut back on my meat eating, and the more that I did that, the easier it was. I decided by August 2002 to go all the way, and become a vegetarian. I still am; in fact, I took it one step further by Canadian Thanksgiving 2003 and became a vegan. I'm rather happy that I didI've never been fitter, I've never eaten so well, I've learned so much (about nutrition and politics), and I've met so many nice people (especially Rosemary, my girlfriend of over two years) in Toronto's veggie community!

One thing that I have come to conclusion of is that beauty comes in all ages, sizes, and colors. I realised this at an old job that I used to have (Video One Canada Ltd., a movie wholesaler). I'm 38, and I can attracted to women from way younger than me (say, up to 21) or old enough to be my mom (late 50's and above). All women have something to offer.

Well, I've decided to join the 21st century, and have a blog of my very own. I must give credit where credit is due, because this was my girlfriend Rosemary's idea.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is James Smart. I'm 38 years old; Aquarius sun, Gemini moon Scorpio rising. I'm of English and Jamican extraction; in other words, I'm everything that bigots love to hate.I live in Canada, in a city called Mississauga, Ontario, which is near Toronto.
