A Sobering Thought

I'm really getting depressed. Stephen Harper and the Conservative party are in the lead in the polls, and look like they're going to form the next government of Canada!Does no-one in this country remember Brian Mulroney or Mike Harris?

Smoothie recipe

2 cups of water
1 cup of pumpkin puree
1 ripe banana
5 pitted dates
2 tbsp. of peanut butter
2 tbsp. of ground flax seeds
2 tbsp. of soy protein powder
3 ice cubes
a dash of vanilla essence
3 packets of Sugar Twin

Blend 'em all at high speed until smooth. Serves 3.

Loaded with fruit,fibre,protein,good carbohydrates,calcium,and testoterone-building zinc!

INXS in my dreams

I recently had a dream about the Australian band INXS . I dreamt that I was following them around, showing up everytime that they were there.I was particularly interested in meeting their new lead singer, J.D.Fortune.

I think it was because I auditioned for the show Rock Star:INXS last year at the Toronto open auditions, but didn't get chosen.Imagine that! They didn't choose a karaoke singer who auditioned with an acapella version of "I Will Survive". What nerve!

Imagine,I'm jealous of a guy who I've never even met.He gets to tour the world and sing, I get to work picking orders for a cosmetics wholesaler.Whoever said life was fair?

So,anyway,INXS' tunes were in my head all last week,so Friday night I listened to a best of CD.They were a pretty good band, weren't they?

Things I dig

trying new kinds of beer, scones, sipping coffee in Kensington Market, pumpernickel bagels with poppy seeds, holding Ro's hand, peace, gangster movies, soy milk, sunny days in winter, the right to vote, vintage erotica, hanging out with young people, reading a new magazine in the library, KISS, watching a new episode of CSI, Quentin Tarantino movies, England, walkabouts in big cities, a full belly after a good meal, goth girls, edible hemp, bulldogs

And more to come as think of them....

Some late resolutions

Here are things that I would really, really like to do in the new year:

1) Play more chess
2) sing more.I used to really love karaoke
3) Dance more.Ro and I went out on New Year's Eve to a bar called Hooch (817 Queen St.W., Toronto), where the d.j.(who was 21, if she was a day!) played killer retro from the 70's and 80's. Most of the people there weren't born when want they were dancing to was big!
4)Find a way to stay in shape, even though I really, really love dark chocolate!
5) keep a job
6)go on a vacation.If I had money, I'd have a wicked case of wanderlust
7)Have sex in public
